I don’t like the Miami Heat. I like the Philadelphia 76ers. Last year the Heat beat the 76ers in the playoffs. I like the Chicago Bulls. Last year the Heat beat the Bulls in the playoffs. I don’t like the Miami Heat.
While I was watching the Heat play the Bulls today (I watched about 20 minutes), the two ESPN announcers (Jeff Van Gundy, Mike Breen) said that LeBron James rode his bike to work that day. What? King James on a bike. Apparently, he does this frequently since traffic is bad in Miami.
James states, “Biking is an extremely important part of my training routine.”
I ride my bike to work. Traffic in Hatfield (PA) is almost as bad as Miami. My commute isn’t too bad, normally 4 minutes by bike, 3 minutes by car. But if I’m biking to the seminary when the 15 mph school zone light is flashing outside St Maria Goretti school, I pass a lot of cars.
Me and LeBron. I feel a bond with the King. Go Heat!
Do you like the Heat? Do you ride a bike? (If the answer to the 2nd is yes, don’t you think the answer to the 1st should be yes too?)
My first youtube video (about 2.5 minutes). Low expectations. Basically, a talking head.
(No you can’t just click on the photo below. I have the poor man’s version of WordPress, which doesn’t let you do that, you have to click on the hyperlink which then takes you to youtube.)
God Behaving Badly at Bucknell.wmv – YouTube.
On Feb 13 I’m speaking for InterVarsity at Bucknell University on the second chapter of God Behaving Badly. Jesse North, IV staff at Bucknell asked for a promo video.
I’d never done a video before, so I got directions from the good IT folks at Biblical Seminary. Downloaded Windows Movie Maker. Recorded a few short clips, none of which had any sound. Adjusted the settings. Started recording. Had sound. (It works better with sound–although silent is hot these days, see Oscar nominations.) Set records for numbers of blinks in a 2-minute period. Deleted a whole bunch of really lousy videos. Kept the least lousy one.
What Are You Looking For?
Here is my most recent blog on Biblical Seminary’s Faculty blog. Check out what Jesus’ first and last words in John’s gospel have in common.
What are you looking for? I’m looking for questions. And so is Jesus.
God will soon be behaving badly in both German and Korean.
I just found out from IVP that God Behaving Badly: Is the God of the Old Testament Angry, Sexist and Racist? will be translated into Korean and German. (If you want it in another language, let me know, not that I have much say in the manner.)
Marie Phillips’ book Gods Behaving Badly was translated into German as Götter ohne Manieren, “Gods without manners”, so you just don’t know what will happen to the title. The film version of Phillips’ book will come out in 2012, starring Christopher Walken, Sharon Stone, Alicia Silverstone, John Turturro, Oliver Platt. Since her book was published in 2007, I figure the film of God Behaving Badly will come out in 2016 (about 5 years later). I haven’t read her book, but it’s about Greek gods living in modern-day New York, sort of like a Percy Jackson book for adults.
The title of this blog comes from translate.google.com (English to German and English to Korean, just to be clear), so if you know these languages better than me (that wouldn’t be hard) and you don’t like these titles, suggest a better translation. My German is only slightly better than my Korean. I won’t be doing the translating.
Any better title translations?
